Rare Soviet Chess Set. Large Soviet Pieces. USSR Chess Set Hand Painted. Vintage. Matryoshka. Pysanka. This rare find was made in USSR in the 1970s. These big funny pot bellied chess pieces are hand painted like Russian nesting dolls. Good Vintage condition. There is slight wear in loss of paint. On the chessboard, there are scratches and loss of finish in spots. Case/Board is 22.25" square. King is 6.25" and Pawns are 3.25" Others are in between those sizes. No missing pieces.
